Default Screen prob

Hi..
Have a Hewlett Packard Omnibook XE2.(second hand)... the desktop has a
large black border round and is also stuck in 16 bit colour mode. (no option
to change in settings)... does anybody Know how to fix please?

Re; the large black border: Begin by examining the BIOS setup program to
see if there are options there for the video display.

the "stuck" 16-bit color mode: this may involve the windows video
driver. Seek a new driver for your particular video system.
Begin by booting to Safe Mode and reinstalling the driver using Device
Manager. Remove the video adapter and reboot to let Windows reinstall the
driver. If no joy, see HP's or the video vendor's website for an updated
driver.

And your system will perform better if you upgrade the physical memory to at
least 256 MB, to reduce the use of the swapfile.
Memory is inexpensive at this time.

Reboot to Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove ALL Display Adapters
Remove ALL Monitors
Reboot to Normal Mode - Windows will reinstall the required drivers -
hopefully curing your problem.
