Default WIN 98 with IE4

I'm running 98, not 98SE, and am having trouble connecting to the MSN
homepage through an ethernet to DSL router connection. The page begins to
load, then stops with an error message, and IE crashes. Do I need to install
a newer version of IE?

Most likely, but the exact error message may be of help.
Try IE6 SP1.
