As per some instructions I got a long time ago, I
reprogrammed my Insert key (the one next to Home) to "paste"
(because my little finger is always toggling it). Well, it
continues to insert on me... but someone else was totally
exasperated the other day because it was constantly pasted
something from clipboard. Could that be the difference
between NumLock on and NumLock off?

BTW - if anyone can give me the instructions on how to put
it back to normal, I'd be grateful. The way I use the
keypad makes the change of no difference for me and it only
frustrates others.

I wanted to make the insert key inoperable, but I guess it's
not possible.

NumLock affects only the keypad,
not the Insert key or its neighbours.

You should be able to remember whether
you remapped this key via Registry or
via a special utility. If you boot DOS the
key ought to be unmapped.

Better cut off your little finger, sf. Or, tape it to your palm, if you
are squeamish. There is no other solution I know of for a misbehaving
Insert key!

PCR,
Of course there is.
Just physically remove the key.

laugh! I still have all 10 digits. Only 1/2 a mind, but
10 whole digits.

and yes, I've considered removing the key, because it's
such a pain in the you know where.

Now, does anyone remember what I did to make it paste
instead of insert?

What were the instructions you got a long time ago? How did you "reprogram" the key
in the first place?
