Assuming you want both the old and new computers to still exist on the network and keep their names, just put your files on the new computer and change the drive mappings on the clients. Otherwise, just rename the new computer as the old name and rename the old machine something else (assuming you've got name services running and aren't using IP addresses directly). If that doesn't answer your question(s) then please clarify what you're trying to ask. BTW, I'm assuming you have the licenses needed to do this, and the luxury of being able to schedule some downtime. If you need to do the changeover without interruption, the answer is much more complex. regards -----Original Message----- wrote: Hi, i have about 24 computers connected as a workgroup. one computer is the server, but i would like it to change ther server to another PC on the network. i am very new to networking, can anybody help? regards What's it serving?
