Backing up my file configurations
I had a few custom things set up so that I could open .DOC files in
Wordpad by default, or right click and choose "Open with OpenOffice". I just decided to move my office suite from the installation of Windows 95 under Virtual PC on my old Powermac 6500 to a Windows 98SE computer so I could try to work with Access. That wiped out my custom "Open with OpenOffice" while changing my settings to use the office apps without asking me. Since Wordpad takes a second to load while Office takes time and RAM, I would have preferred to have left things alone. Is there any way to back up such custom things or prevent them from being wiped out? I have an XCOPY of everything on my hard drive from 6 months ago on a Virtual PC 2007 hard drive image on another computer, is there any way to export the file types from that backup and paste it into the real computer? |
