98SE-Shutdown glitch
I have just done a full reinstall..........sokay so far 'cept for the
shutdown screens. 'Till recently, clicking on shutdown would bring up the 'shuttingdown' screen, and in conjunction with computer's 'auto power off' this would immediately implode with a flash.............and no final 'shutdown' screen. It all seems very severe and sudden. Now, the 'shutting down screen' dissolves into shimmering vertical streaks of it's color make up and just hangs as the 'auto power off' fails to kick in. Are there any suggested remedies for these malfunctions? OS.......Win98SE/700Mhz.Celeron/128MegRAM. Cheerz, Tezza Turtell. |

98SE-Shutdown glitch
Click StartRun, type MSCONFIG and click OK.
On the General tab, click the Advanced button. Click to put a check mark in the box for "Disable fast shutdown", and click OK. Click OK to close Msconfig, and restart the computer. If that does not help, or if the box was already checked or wasn't there, go he Windows Shutdown Troubleshooter: http://aumha.org/win4/a/shutdown.htm I assume that you have not made any changes to the BIOS settings between installs. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "TerryS." wrote in message ... 98SE-Shutdown glitch
There *may* be an option in your BIOS as to whether the system turns off or not when
you shutdown. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "TerryS." wrote in message ...
