LOL!!!

They said "resistance is futile", but they were wrong! As for me, I'm
QUITE CONTENT with IE 5.5 SP2.

There have been some rumors (not created by me) that some people using
Win98SE had some problems with IE 6. I don't know if that is the case -
most people here say it works great. So - if you want the newest model,

go
for it!

But as for me, (and just as an aside), I'm still QUITE CONTENT with WMP

6.4
too (just for the record) So there! LOL.

Upgrading will necessitate two (2) visits to Windows Update: One to

install
IE6 SP1 (and reboot), then another to install post-SP1 updates for

both
IE
and Win98. To assure a clean install, your anti-virus application

should be
disabled and all other running processes closed before installing

anything,

Early versions of IE6 SP1 proved troublesome for a small minority of

Win98

With support as in the case of updates already becoming a rare thing from
Microsoft on 98SE, I would have the latest version of IE. You may want to
consider Mozilla Firefox too since it does not have Active X vulnerabilities

It's ever my cute way to ask a really basic (i.e. dumb) question, but
I'm just curious :

If I never use IE (or OE, for that matter - switched to Moz & T'bird
last year - so no reason ever to change back), why should I need to keep
IE up to date?

Yeah, but when you're crossing busy streets, you are able to see the risks and
dodge them (else you wouldn't be here.) The problem with Windows Security
vulnerabilities is that you can't see what's about to hit you until it already
has.
