Failure on display driver update
Brian, that you for your response to my message. I posted
a response to you and Jeff Richards - that you may not
have seen because I replied back to myself.
I also posted another reply directly back to Jeff is this
thread.
Wondered if you might have further insight.

In Safe Mode Device Manager remove all devices listed
under Display Adapters. Have a look in Monitors to be
sure the correct one is listed, if not and there are more
than one, remove them all as well. Reboot and Windows
should find new devices and install.
I would suggest that if you have the install disk that
came with your ATI adapter, do not let Windows install
the driver it chooses, select to install from disk
instead. Insert the disk and use the browse button to
point to the directory where the drivers are on the disk.
