Default BTBroagband and WinMe

Mike
Thanks for the details.
WinXP
IP Add 192.168.1.64
SubMask 255.255.255.0

DGateway 192.168.1.254
DHCP Server 192.168.1.254
DNS Server 192.168.1.254

The TF3200 adapter software has provided clearly separate driver for
WinMe and the setup at the end certify
that " Found the Adapter and install/update
successfully" and the device manager does
not show any sign of error.
The adapter standard is marked on the pack
is 802.3

AAH,

There is absolutely no reason why a PC running Win Me shouldn't be able to
connect to a BT Homehub using a wired connection. The hub (or rather
switch) has little interest in the operating system in use on the attached
devices, all it requires is that the devices can communicate using the
TCP/IP protocol.

What does Win Me's Device Manager have to say about your TF3200? Does it
show as being installed and working or is it yellow banged (!) or show
some other error? As you say, the TF3200 is Win Me compatible and should
work. If the device manager shows that everything is OK do the following:

From the Start | Run box enter WINIPCFG and click OK
Does this show your network card in the drop down box at the top?
What does this show as the IP address and Default Gateway for your network
card?
I think that by default the BT Homehub uses the 192.168.1.xxx range of
addresses with the hub having the 192.168.1.254 address and would expect
to see 192.158.1.254 as being the IP address for the Default Gateway and
DHCP server.
Click "More info "
What IP addresses are listed for your DNS servers? Click the ... button to
the right of the address to see the second address.
What Node Type does it show? Are there any entries in the NetBIOS Scope
Id, IP Routing Enabled, NetBios Resolution Uses DNS and WINS Proxy enabled
boxes?
If you click "Release All" and then "Renew All" do the IP addresses of the
Adapter, Default Gateway and DHCP server change?

If you log on to the homehub, does it have an option to see a list of
connected devices and their IP addresses? If yes, is the Win Me PC
listed? What is the IP address of your XP laptop when connected?

I am finding very difficult to connect the
WinMe computer to BTBroadband.

We have WinXP -Laptop connected to the
BT via Wireless without and problem.
The WinMe computer has TP-Link 10/100M Fast Ethernet Model no:TF3200
Adapter (802.3).

I shall be very grateful for an advice as the
BThub ver 2.o cannot get connected to the
WinMe via cable.
The TP-Link adapter is seems acceptable by the WinMe
