Default still having vid adapter driver probs...

It's the sort of issue that if the machine was sitting here in front of me
it's quite likely we could track it down and come up with a solution. Long
distance, it's difficult. If you have a knowledgeable friend that you trust,
it might be worthwhile showing it to them.

thanks, jeff. told you i was a computard [at least where
ms-dos is concerned]. i hadn't the slightest idea what to
do. now that i do know, i find it really funny. well,
this is how we learn, no??
anyway, since the .ini thing is risky at best, i guess i
will settle for the constant reinstallation--at least i
have a cable modem, so i can use the time for
reinstallation and imagine i'm waiting for a dial-up
connection [lol]. thanks for all the help--i'm sure i'll
have another question for you before long--thanks so much
for being here and available. it really means a lot.
well, i'm off to perhaps delve into things and investigate
to see what i might find--o, by the way--NOW, when i boot
up, the screen comes up with the default resolution, but
my desired desktop color and pattern are there--will
wonders never cease?? and i'm not getting that 'problem'
message--at least for now.

thanks again--
