Oh boy, the K62 NEVER was known as being able to withstand overheating..
hot enough to fry an egg on anyway or your finger if you were dumb enough to
try... required the most extensive cooling WITHOUT over-clocking... which
was never recommended by anyone who had bothered to check the dang things
properly...
During that period [ my business - Custom Computer Services] I replaced
EVERY overheated K62 if I could, key word is IF.
Most of the time, it had already fried the mother board when the voltage
surged across the board or it shorted internally.. forget replacing the bios
chip, the capacitors and onboard chips usually also got overstressed..
IF the board is still atempting to function, junk the processor
immediately.. IT WILL FAIL SHORTLY.. electro migration, electro erosion,
heat damage, and other such, has ALREADY occurred on the processor... the
clock is rapidly counting down to complete failure...
