How to Create a File Association in Windows 98 and Windows Me

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;133217
How to Create Multiple Associations for One File Extension

For simple associations (just "open" I guess), you may...

(a) Highlight any file of that particular type
(b) Hold Shift & R-Clk it, to get "Open with...." again.
(c) Check the "Always open with..." box at botttom.
(d) Select the proper app from the window.

However, if you still don't know what to associate it with... To
disassociate it...

"START button, Settings, Folder Options, File Types tab".

Use the D-Arrow to slowly scroll the list, all the while looking for
that file type to appear at "Extension:". At long last, while it is
highlighted, click "Remove". If the extension is, for instance, ".xyz"
you may first quickly scroll the list & look for "XYZ File". Remove that
one.

But make no guesses. If you cannot remember what that file type
(extension) was, post back. Terhune will put you under hypnosis with a
mile-long dissertation--- & shock your memory!

| I inadvertently checked the "always open with" box which sets the
program
| that is used to read a file that has a particular extension. Then
found out
| that it wasn't the right choice. Ended up with a bunch of files with
the
| same extension not being readable.
|
| How can I cancel the choice I made? Can't seem to get back to that
"open
| with" window.
|
| Help would be appreciated.
