Ok I rebooted the computer in safe mode and was able to go
into display settings, however i couldn't acces the
moniter tab when i clicked on advanced. I then ran
msconfig.exe, and selected selective startup, and
unchecked the Process system.ini box. I could then go
into display settings advanced. Every tab was there exept
the moniter tab. How can i get this tab back because i
need it to pick my moniter?

You can get all the drivers you need from NEC.

I just noticed something. My Moniter section in the
device manager is gone! Which means it must not think I
have a moniter driver or something. Where can i get a
moniter driver?

You might want to defragment the drive and check it for
errors by Right
clicking on the Drive letter after clicking on My
Computer and running those
tools.

Also, boot to DOS and at the prompt type:

scanreg/ fix (notice the space)

and press Enter.

When that is finished running type:

scanreg/ opt (notice the space)

and press Enter.

When that is finished running type:

Exit

and press Enter to reboot to Windows.

If those solutions don't work it seems the only choice

is
to reinstall
Windows.

If your hard drive has at least two partitions, then

this
is not a major
problem since you can back up all the files you want to
save on the second
parition. You also can burn them to a CD or save them

to
another computer
if you have a home network.

If reinstalling Windows doesn't work, then you might

have
a hardware problem
such as a loose or damaged cable, a CPU fan that no
longer works properly
etc. Those are only two hardware problems that might be
causing the
freezing problem.

Update your motherboard chipset drivers. You have an
Intel 440BX chipset.

One other thing - Download RegClean to your desktop
and
run it.

Click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools,
then
RIGHT click Sytem
Information. Send a System Information shortcut

to
your desktop (there
are a bunch of diagnostic utilities in it that you
will
find useful.)

Click the System Information shortcut, then click
Tools. In the drop down
menu, click Internet Explorer Repair Tool. Then
click
the Repair Internet
Explorer Radio Button and follow the on-screen
instructions.

yes i have run a complete virus scan. I

downloaded
the
mouse driver and ran the spybot but no fix yet,
however i
think we made some progress cause i was able to
control
alt delete to restart when it froze this time.
Anything
else?
-----Original Message-----
I then assume you have run a complete virus scan
with
the
latest virus
checking definitions. Is this correct?

Download and run SpyBot - it's a bit more

thorough
than
Ad Aware IMHO. It
also has an Immunize feature that you should
activate.

You also might want to reinstall your
mouse/touchpad
drivers which can be

yes i already have adware6.0 and run it

regularly
so
this
wont fix it. Another suggestion?

-----Original Message-----
You might have a load of spyware on your system
that
is
hogging resources.
Download and run Ad-aware 6.0 build 181 from
Download.com.
