1. When I go to log on to certain sites, FF offers a drop-down
selection of my logon usernames if I click in the empty username box.
Not just autocomplete (although it does that too) - a dropdown list.
Not Opera - I have to type in the full username each time.
I don't know if it can conveniently set for any of several easily selected
names, but there is a form setting in the preferences that lets you fill in
stuff, then when logging into a site, you can use the key button just right
of the forward/backward navigation buttons. I imagine it fills in the details
needed, and may even use multiple identities, but I don't know. I never use
it.
That I have seen in Opera, but it isn't what I'm referring to. In FF2
if I type (or mis-type) a login username into say Yahoo mail, in
subsequent sessions if I click into the empty login username box it
will provide a drop-down showing all previous entries, including the
mis-typed ones (which I can fortunately select and delete in the
list). Not passwords, or the form-filling that Opera10 has under
Tools-Prefs-Forms.
There, if Tedious though it is, I just let it remember my name for the duration of
a session, and never remember any passwords. I find there is only one way to
maintain that habit, and that's to maintain it.
I never let FF or anything else remember my passwords (unless the app
does it by stealth) with the exception of a couple of benign forums
where I use autologon.
