Certain websites have been causing me progressively more issues when
using FF (2.0.0.20). *I noted in another thread that someone was
running Opera 10.63 so I installed that, and configured it to
hopefully do my bidding.

Unfortunately, there are two areas where I cannot for the life of me
get it to replicate the functionality I have with FF:

1. *When I go to log on to certain sites, FF offers a drop-down
selection of my logon usernames if I click in the empty username box.
Not just autocomplete (although it does that too) - a dropdown list.
Not Opera - I have to type in the full username each time.

2. *Remembering visited links - I use these as a marker to show where
I am up to in (say) browsing a category in fleabay. *With FF that
marker is there next time I visit. *WIth Opera, it dies with the
session.

Nothing at the Opera site helped, nor did "about: config" in the
address bar - that really only gave the Tools - Preferences
parameters via a different front-end.

Can anyone familiar with the inner workings of Opera point me in the
right direction?

did you post your question at the Opera's User Group website?

No. My experience with those is that the people who know the answer
look down their noses at those who ask "dumb questions". As both the
FF and Opera versions are "obsolete" they also tend to attract nothing
but sneers . I have a standing query in the FF forum about how to
DELETE a parameter which was inserted into the about:config page in
2.0.0.20 with a typo, and no responses.

I figure that this is a fairly basic feature that most Opera
immigrants would have experienced in their previous browser-of-choice
and would have come to grips with. I also value the fact that the
denizens of this n/g are in the same time warp as me.
