Glad to hear it. What I suggest now is checking the manufacturers site for the
latest updated drivers to download and install per their instructions.

Hi
The disk does not auto run and does not have a setup on it at all. I have
tried every folder on the disk to update drive and my computer just tells
me
the driver already installed is the best one.

You have the Hardware Wizard looking in the wrong place for the drivers,
you
need to point it to the Driver CD. However you may not need to use the
wizard.
Put the disk in the drive and see if it autoruns where you can then select
which
drivers to install. From what I see that's on the CD there are 2 different
video
driver folders, the Rage folder and the Nvidia folder. Open each folder to
see
if there is a setup file to install the drivers from.

If the disk does not autorun, you can always look at the contents from
within
Explorer to see if any setup files are on it to run.

If you have no luck with installing them in any matter mentioned above
with the
CD in drive:
Right click MyComputer, click Properties Device manager tab
Click the + next to Video/Display adapter
Double click the listed device to open the properties
Click the Driver tab Update driver button Next button Search for a
better
driver Next button
Uncheck all except Specify a location
Click the Browse button and navigate to the folder/s files on the CD to
select
them to search in
Click next after selecting and follow the rest of the steps
When finished reboot if asked

HI I have found a disk called “CD-Rom Driver

It has on it:

4d wave: DX, NX

Cirrus: 5446, 5465

HIS: RAGE llc, Rage Pro

Intel: 1740

Ncvidia: TNT, TNT 2, TNT VANTA

Trident: 9680, 9685, 9685TV, 9750, 9850, 9880

S3: Trio64V2, ViRGE/DX, Trio3D, Trio3D/2X, Savage3D, Savage 4

Direct X

Xing: Xing.W95

Game: Heavy Gear II Demo

Have tried a few of these and when I update driver it says the current
“standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) is the best one to use.

This is the message I get:
The best driver windows found is already installed for this device. Click
back to install a different driver or click next to continue using this
driver.

Location of driver:

C:\WINDOWS\INF\MSDISP.INF

Even tried windows updates as location of new driver and it still doesn’t
want to install new driver?????????????????????????

Hope you can help this is very frustrating??????????????????????????????
You cant make out much of any graphics at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

The driver you need to update is the driver for your video display
adapter.
If you can't find the CD that was supplied with your adapter then you
need
to download the latest drivers from the www site of the video display
adapter manufacturer.

The make and model of the video display adapter is usually displayed
on-screen immediately after power-on, before the memory test starts.
Otherwise, you can find it by looking at the card.

The message about the best one being installed only refers to the drivers
that Windows knows about. If you haven't downloaded the proper driver
from
the manufacturer's www site then Windows doesn't know that a better one
is
available.

Hi
I recently reformated my hard disk and reinstalled win98se. I cant
chose
256 colours the highest available is 16. I have tried to update driver
but
it says the best one is installed. I cant find my driver disk that came
with
my computer and i dont know what brand the drive is. Please help. Thanks

You may need to use the device manager to delete the device and reboot
to allow the operating system to redetect the video card. Then you would
be able to insert the CD, direct add hardware wizard to search for
drivers on the CD and select the device from a list.
