Default Failure on display driver update

the adapter is ATI XPERT 128. P/N 1027440301.=20

According to ATI p/n search on their site:

BUILT BY ATI Product Part umber Search Results
Results On: 1027440301
Product Description BIOS Part Number 102 Part Number=20
RAGE 128 PRO 16MB PCI VGA 11374403101 1027440301=20

The latest drivers for that can be found here, although put out in 2001:

Installation instructions for the XPERT 128:

I don't use two adapters simultaneously, one or the other=20
at a time. When the attempted driver update for the new=20
one failed (ATI, PCI) I removed it and installed the=20
adapter that I used before I bought the ATI (AGP).

Can't install standard VGA because the system will only=20
install the driver for whichever card is installed. The=20
computer is custom built so there is no monitor port=20
other than the one that is one whichever adapter I have=20
installed at the time.

You should be able to install the Standard VGA drivers. After booting =
to Safe Mode and removing any existing drivers go to Control Panel Add =
New Hardware. Windows will do it's little search for new devices and =
list any found.
Choose "No it's not listed" and click Next.
Choose "No, I will select from a list" and click Next.
Click once on "Display adapters" and click Next.
The first item on the list should be "Standard display types" and in the =
right pane will be the Standard adapters.
Choose "Standard display adapter-VGA and click Next.
After installing reboot. =20

I'll check out the BIOS idea. I've fiddled with it in the=20
past so I know what I'm getting into.=20
=20
Thanks.
