Default Internet explorer error in ME

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

does anyone know what is happening and or how to fix the
following:

1. Cannot open Internet Explorer off desktop.(so
consequently can't get to internet.) Recently had comcast
broadband conncected, but this had appeared before that.
2. Error message appears: Explorer has cause an error in
vx2.dll. This will now close. and then it restarts
automatically, but becomes circular i.e. "Explore has
cased an error... etc.
3. Re-starting does nothing.
4. Cannot open search function at all off the Start
button. I was thinking to look for viruses.
5. Cannot right click on Explorer icon on desktop to
track down Explore version. Same error message appears.
6. Sometimes a more detailed error message appears on a
completely blue screen: Explorer has caused an invalid
page fault in module vx2.dll@ 0187:02e8eea.
7. Have run Norton Antivirus, scanned computer. No
results.
8. Is this a virus? And if it is, I can't download a
patch since I can't get to internet.

Any thoughts? I went to the ME error message site from
another computer. Of course the ME error messages listed
do not mirror my message.

Thanks for any assistance.
