I've just read about the 'debug' DOS command to find the brand of video
card- I think it was on this NG!
In a DOS box, type debug then DC000:50 or DC000:35 . Along with a hex dump
you get a text...

There seem to be torrent downloads available- not that I'm advocating piracy

Find a friend with a W98 CD and re-install. Someone must still have it- many
people still use and like it.
