I have a box that I've upgraded from a 95 machine to 98 to 98SE that is on
it's third case, fourth primary HD and, after yesterday, it's sixth board.
It hasn't always been easy, but it generally turns out OK because I go to
Device Mgr in Safe Mode and uninstall everything before shutting down...

where to find a legacy version of 'dialer.exe'? by
Lee C.
I managed to crash my hard drive some time ago and lost a WIN 98 app I'd run across on the internet, and now I can't find it again.
It was an old, very old, version of 'dialer.exe' for WIN 98.
It had a unique characteristic (or, at least, I think it was unique; I've never seen another version that...

which item in the Appearances tab of Display Properties changes the size of
the file names in a Windows folder (Explorer folder).
I normally display the files in List view, but whether it's in List view or
Small Icons...

System Resources versus RAM by
Larry
A few days ago there was interesting thread discussing what System Resources
are. A couple of posters pointed out that System Resources, while it is a
special type of memory, isn't the same as RAM.
However, no one, as far as I could tell, said what is the relationship, if
any, between SR and...

Google finds lots of links, even for the older versions,
but they produce the latest version 1.60 of sigcheck.exe.

Any ideas where to find version 1.54 or older?

AVG just announced that they no longer support Windows 98. Worse, they

What alternatives do I have to install? I don't want to spend any
money on my old computer and searching on...

it on a virtual machine within XP or Vista, via VM Ware or similar programs?
I've picked up a few things about virtualization, and I'm interested...
