AGP video card performance

i have two video cards i can put in a P3 running WIN98SE. One is a AGP
4X 8MB card and the other is an older AGP 2X 16MB card. Which is
preferable as far as performance is concerned? Does the 4X vs. 2X spec
mean more than the 8MB vs. 16 MB spec?

What exactly do you plan to do with the cards in respect to 'performance'?
Play games? Surf the internet? Office applications such as spreadsheets?

It depends on the what kind of AGP slot you have. For example: My
motherboard has a 4X AGP slot. I can put a video card with an 8X AGP speed,
but I will only get a 4X speed performance from the video card.

Since you are not using the computer to play games, use the 16MB card.

Joe,

I went with the 16MB card. It was surprisng when i contacted ATI support they
came back with the 2x and 4x doesn't mean that much so go with the 16MB also..
I wonder if they put that in their advertising when they are trying to sell 8x
cards vs. 6x or 4x.

Thanks
