explorer caused page fault resulting in blue screen of death
Hello group,
Upon booting up my Compaq Presario with Win 98 2nd Edition, I get the Windows screen that stays on for a couple of minutes then followed by the "blue screen of death", then "explorer caused and invalid page fault in module explorer.exe.at 019f:00401f31" message. I have tried using the Win 98 install disk, my rescue floppy disks ("A" drive doesn't respond to the rescue disks. This problem occured ofter my Norton Anti virus subscription ran out, and I used the anti virus portion of an unused Norton's security anti-viral XP disk. It scanned my system at "clean of infection and chose 8 "at risk" files" being ad ware oriented. It suggested deleting these files, which I did. Upon restarting the system I have a "comatose" computer. Is there a way to get past the "blue screen of death" to remove the virus software or re-install Win 98 2nd Ed? Just to mention Explorer 6 is the version I have. Any help you may offer this technology challanged baby boomer would be appreciated. |
