Clean Install Windows ME
I am getting so frustrated. I have the full version of
windows 95 on desk, all 24 disks the Windowsd 95 setup boot disk, 22 disks of Windows 95 and USB Update disk. I bought a compaq computer with windows 98se and had so many error problems I decided to upgrade to ME. Bought the upgrade which states Windows 95 is acceptable. The problem is after a couple years the disk drive became so cluttered and had so many blue screens and dll errors and kernel 32 errors decided it was time to wipe the slate clean. Formated my hard drive, put in windows me key and was asked for the qualifying product. Put in disks 1, 2 3, 4 10, 11, 12 (I don't remember all the exact numbers but seemed like was at least half of the disks I have) etc etc as asked and was told could find no qualfying product. Now I can load Windows 95 completely and will go through without a hitch. Or I can use the restore disks which puts a lot of garbage I don't want on my hard drive. That takes hours (especially the windows 95)that I shouldn't have to put in because I've followed all the rules. I don't even want to mention what that Windows 95 disk system cost me, so the hassle just burns my biscuits. What is the solution? Thanks, mar |
