Where are the desktop icon settings stored in 98se? by
[email protected]
Windows 98se
I have a lot of icons on my desktop. Every once and awhile they get all
jumbled up, and it takes me nearly an hour to straighten them up. I have
a specific order I have them so I can find them quickly. I have never
figured how they get messed up and probably never will....
What...

PCMCIA Card to USB 1 Adapter by
[email protected]
Hi,
I bought a Win95 laptop around 1996. This laptop does NOT have
a USB port. Years later, I installed Win98se to replace Win95.
It has a FDD (floppy disk drive) and CD drive. Also has two PCMCIA card
slots. The FDD no longer "works". I searched for an external FDD that
connects to...

W98 DOS on a FAT32 partition - booting causes a reboot. by
R.Wieser
Hello all,
I just created a 5 GByte bootable FAT32 partition and formatted it using the
/s option (to transfer the systemfiles to it). However, when I than restart
there just is a delay of about 10 seconds, after which it reboots.
The odd thing is that booting from a FAT16 thumbdrive and than...

I'm re-installing ME on an old laptop for some legacy software.

Windows 98 is now able to Drink alcohol by
Last-Call
Windows 98 is now 21 years old. That means it's an ADULT and is able to
drink in all 50 states.
If you are still running Win98, put a bottle of whisky inside the case.

OT. Win ME DOS driver for modern DVD drive by

I only want to read files with the drive. This is on a newer Dell
laptop. I am booting up a FAT12 image of a Win ME DOS system. It is
IO.SYS, MSDOS.SYS, COMMAND.COM with various DOS commands on it. I have
MSCDEX.EXE from Win ME.
The DVD drive is:
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GU90N.
I need a driver for...

Lexmark MS312dn by
Axel Berger[_2_]
The Lexmark laser printer supposedly uses standard postscript. I have
got the Lexmark multi-driver package which asks me to choose one or
several printers, with the MS312 naturally not among them. Do I have a
chance to get it running by choosing any of the older ones? If so,
which?
It is being...

I was explaining about MIDI (musical) keyboards to a friend, when I
remembered I had one, that I'd hardly used. I dug it out - it's still in
its box, even with its original plastic bag - 3...

motorboating power by

About a month ago, I turned on my Windows 98/XP desktop machine, for the
first time in ages (possibly a couple of years).
The mouse lit up, as did the power and other (disc access?) LED, and
fans started - then they went out again. Then they came on again - then
they went off again. They do...
