My brother, (who had a new MSI Kt6v mobo a few weeks ago), 'phoned to say
that he plugged his little Olympus C150 into a USB port - XP Pro detected
it - several little balloons popped out from his system tray in quick
succession, (i guess xp was detecting and setting up a "mass storage device"

"Access is denied" by
Roger Fink
As a result of a procedural Windows error on my part, when I now try to open
an .ogg file (an audio format) I get the following message. "Access to the
specified device, path or file is denied" (the message is referring to the
file, since it won't open from any location). In addition, when I now...

I am getting this error when clicking on .torrents and trying to open
them.
I think it is because I uninstalled a program that I used to open them,
and now they are not associated with any program even though I
re-installed that program.
I checked Folder Options / File Types, couldnt find...

"Bad Command or File Name" by
dan
When I first turn on the computer and it is loading up,
there is a black screen which stays up for a couple of
seconds. This screen in the middle has a statement "Bad
Command or file name". How can I get rid of that?
I think it is related to scan-disk. Whenever I run Disk
Cleanup, it says scanning...

"BIOS" password by
Mike
I think that is what it is called. It is a password which
appears before Windows 98 starts to load. I know the old
one, how do I change it? It is a Dell Dimension desktop
computer.

"clipboard" ; where went ye? by
rooster
When I was given this unit (2nd hand)in Feb., an OEM
version of W98 was in it, concerted with OE&IE 4.0. I
gradually learned that these accoutrements had something
to do with what made it go and that was good enough for
me. I was so green, I confused vegetarians.
I did not know until recently what...

"COMPUTER DID NOT SHUTDOWN" MESSAGE ON EVERY START UP (WIN 98) by

Even when I've shut the PC down properly, the next day I receive the "Windows did not shutdown" message, at which point the PC initiates a full scandisk.
The "fast shutdown" is disabled in the advanced options.
What can I do to resolve this?
