Win Media 9 choppy playback by

Hi
I have a problem with media player 9 playing audio and
video files back in a choppy manner. It seems to play a
chunk fast then skip and do it again. I am running win98se
and have winamp 5 also which plays back the same files
perfectly.
My system also plays the start up sound in a choppy...

I only have on DVD, which plays fine on my husband's PC, running XP.
However, on my W98 PC, even with a 2600+ Athlon processor and 256M of RAM,

No Volume Control Icon on system Tray Win98 by

Have re-installed windows and found no volume icon on system tray. Have been
into multi-media via control panel and msconfig through run and all is
correct, yet I have no icon and no sound.

How can I find out what kind of PCI Media device I have?
I have the device in my computer, but it says nothing on
it, like a brand name. I looked in the device manager,
all it have is a "?". I updated the driver, but could not

player. I have tried to play video files (avi, mpg) and
sometimes the screen is quite slow and the voice is

Hi, i want to find which sound card i am using. In device
Manager, under 'Sound, video and game controllers', i have
the following devices:
Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V
SB AudioPCI 64 Legacy Device
Are they referring to the same sound card? how can i find
