Can't share files/printing w wireless laptop by

I have desktop pc (running ME) hard wired to broadband/wireless router/modem
and a laptop (running XP home) using Linksys wireless card that keep losing
their print and file sharing capabilities.
Both OS's have different methods for networking/sharing setup and I am lost!

running ME can "see" some, but not all of the shared
folders on a PC running Win98se when I open My Network
Places.
However, from within Excel or Word, I can "back into"
