Win'98SE & IE 6 by
Gary S. Terhune
Not that I can think of. I've yet to see any problems with it on 98 systems.
Still, I'm sure some here will have tales to tell. The trick is to see if there
are any underlying constants involved that match your situation.

Give your reasons.
Do you plan to upgrade ever? If so, when and why?
At present, I have no plans to change (I wouldn't use the word

WinZip 8.0 running v. slowly by
Angus Rodgers[_2_]
I last installed Win98SE a little over three years ago, and a
number of niggles have developed. I'm still putting off that
evil day when I have to completely reinstall Win98SE and start
to dual-boot with Ubuntu Linux, which will probably be my next
main OS.
Meanwhile, it would help quite a lot if...

MS05-002 on 9x and ME by
Jerry Bryant [MSFT]
Microsoft has received reports about issues with KB891711 on Windows 98,
Windows 98 SE and Windows ME. At this point, we have been able to confirm
these reports and are currently working on a resolution.
Please note that by uninstalling the current update, the machine will return
to a vulnerable...

Will a new harddrive work witn win98SE? by
mm
Are any of the external, or if need be internal, harddrives that are
sold at stores these days work with win98SE?
I know that the MP3 player I bought two years ago said it required XP,
but that was just if I wanted to use special features. As long as I
only wanted to copy files to it from a PC...

IE Running well so far by
CdLSRN
Thank you everyone! I really appreciate you sticking with me through this. Someone
sent me the 3 DLL files I was missing. I installed them and was able to run the
repair tool for IE6SP1. But that didn't help. I cleaned up my startup items with help
from the group. I deleted a lot of unnecessary...

comp keeps timing out. by
square/circle
Hello,
Have encountered a problem that has been happening for the last month. \
(Win98SE, Dun,)
Problem is my connection seems to time-out after about 10 minutes of
non-use. It is okay if it is being used.
Spent the last week trouble-shooting, including an absolute confirmation
from my Isp that...

Antivirus software for 98 by
Jack[_3_]
What type of antivirus software do people using 98 use now that Norton
and AVG no longer support 98? My 98 machine still outperforms my XP
significantly.

Backup software--like GHOST by
William B. Lurie
Good friend of mine got GHOST 9 and then found
out it isn't for WIN 98. He got GHOST 2003
with it, that is for 98. But I recall seeing
suggested here, other drive imaging and restoring
packages that people find preferable to the Norton/
Symantec stuff. Could I have a few suggestions?

FWIW, even though I though Gary was a jerk and we had a serious
and permanent falling out within a few days of our first thread,
I find the current jokes and general discussion of his "status"
in poor taste. No one knows where he is or how he is and I think
you should drop the subject. I for...

Missing System Tools folder by
ms
I wanted to run System File Checker, read that it is in System Tools.
I just looked in Accessories, there is no System Tools folder! ??
I just used Scanreg/restore, the oldest registry is only a few days
old. And nothing has happened on this machine in the past week, so I
believe the Tools...

explorer "invalid page fault" by

Hi, it's me AGAIN. Sigh.
Everything is just great but I am getting the following error
(not a BIG deal - all the tray icons disappear but everything
works unless I try to start a new program - and it used to
happen with the previous install as well...).
Also, I am PRETTY sure the culprit is...
