Friday Morn During bootup scandisk informs me of need to run a thorough suface scan. I sometimes let it do this: takes nearly 3 hours. And after a couple of boots, it wants to do it again. Nothing is wrong with the drives.

Zip disk property shows no free space by Joey
After reading a zip disk the properties function always displays the initial disks capacity even though you have an empty disk in the drive. The Microsoft Backup program thinks the disk is full and will not write to it. Is there a fix?

I can only get my CD-ROM or My CD Burner to work, but not both. I have tried all the combinations of the jumper switch on back of the CD-ROM/ Burner. Uses for 20G & Up HDDs by Brad
Hi "Lil' Dave", HDDs have many vulnerabilities, therefore I would not trust them for keeping important files or OS backup. The heads are only microns from the surface of the spinning platters. A sudden jolt could cause the head to bounce off the platter surface, or if "writing", overwrite data...

My CDR and CDRW used to work fine. Neither can be accessed now - all I get is a message saying " not accessible; device not ready". This has been a gradual process, certainly as far as the CDRW is concerned. Originally it would read and write. Then it stopped writing CDRW, then, from time to time,...
