Virus and worms in Windows 98 system by
deevarnado
Question about antivirus software? I pulled my old Window 98 system out for
my grandchild to play. I have a lot of old game software that will only run
on 95 and 98 systems. To get to the point I ran antivirus software on it and
all most all exe. and word documents are infected with TengaA and...

CD-R erratically detected by
J. P. Gilliver (John)
On an elderly PC I help a friend with, where he's copying a lot of his
old LPs to CD, we use burn4free (though I think the problem is not with
burn4free itself).
More often than not, when hitting the "burn" button, it says "please
insert a disc" - even if there's one in. When, by fiddling,...

Hard drive larger then 120GB question by
USR
Hello:
I know that there is a limitation in Win98SE with regard to hard drive size
greater then 120GB. My question is, if I put a 320GB hard drive in an SE
box but only create a partition of 120GB or less, will I still run into
problems?
TIA

problems with 32.dll when loading drivers by
J. P. Gilliver (John)
'95 'group included as I use the '95 shell, via 98lite "Sleek" option.
I recently had a play with soporific's UBCD, a. k. a. "Windows 98, 10th
anniversary edition". I think a vast amount of work has gone into it,
and when installed from scratch as I did on a laptop for a friend, it
worked well...

Interpretation of failures and delays at boot. by
George
I'm trying to determine why my start-up is taking so long
to bring up the desktop. I've downloaded, installed and
run Boot Log Analyzer bla.exe and have the list of load
failures and delays it has produced from my last boot.
How do I interpret and make corrections to items on the
list? I see some...

What's the deal with MS05-002 (KB891711.EXE) and Windows 98? by
Dan
According to PC Today, April issue it is a critical update that has as of now
not been exploited by hackers. Guys and Gals you need this critical update
because I am guessing within 3 weeks someone will find a way to compromise
all 98SE and associated 9x machines that need the patch and have not...

Which XP newsgroups? by
J. P. Gilliver (John)
I will soon be using XP at home as well as work (bought a netbook -
Samsung NC-20).
I have found these three '9x 'groups, on the whole, helpful, friendly,
and fun (OK, I've had run-ins with some people!), and was wondering
which of the many XP 'groups those here would suggest joining - and, at...

My 10 year-old Win 98 computer hums along like a little tiger.
