changing security settings

I listen to Real Player radio station, but I keep getting
a Timed Out error after about 30 minutes. I called them
and they said i need to lower my security settings and
something about "background scanning operations". How do
I go about changing my security settings so my Real Player
radio station wont cut out after 30 minutes or so?
