windows 98 is not on the add/remove window.i need to
reinstall the program to get my pc back up to speed. any
help would be great. thanks in advance!

Start up with a boot disk that has CD support, format the disk, =
reinstall Windows and all of your apps.
Backup all of your important data before format/install.
Make sure you have the ProductKey (NOT the ProductID) Which you can get =
from the registry in the right pane of the key:
hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version
or use a free utility to get it for you such as RegInfo by MVP George =
