View Full Version : video adapter

My video just went out in normal mode. All I get is some green lines at the
top. It will boot up in safe mode. But I have fooled with it too much and
now I can not install a new driver for the video adapter. I blew away the
video display in System Resources thinking it would reinstall on
reboot-wrong. Now I have no way of fixing the problem, if I knew what the
problem actually was. I don't know if my card bit the dust or if the driver
just got corrupted. And so far I've found no way to reinstall. This computer
is a Micron and only came with a mirror image which means blowing everything
away and setting my computer back to day 1. Before I do that I just wondered
if those smarter than myself had any other options. Thanks for any help.

Open Device Manager while in Safe Mode,
What is the Display Adapter shown as?? - 'update' it to the Std VGA adapter,
and reboot to Normal Mode- see if that works

The display adapter is not there in Device Manager. When I removed the
driver, the display adapter also went away and does not come back on reboot.
When I go to the driver in Display the change button is dimmed out although
the driver that I removed is still listed. I'm afraid I really messed up.

I see from another thread that you appear to have fixed this - well done!

Are you OK now, or do you need further assist?

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove what may be a variant of
the CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:
