I lost my key code.

Please help me someone. My computer at home won't
properly boot into Windows ME. Safe mode dosen't even
work. We've recently moved and managed to loss our key
code in the process. I know the software is registard.
How can I reobtain my key code?

If you can't boot into Win Me but your hard disk hasn't been formatted then
you can try recovering the Product Key as follows:
a) Boot to DOS using a WinMe Startup Floppy and select 4) Minimal Boot
b) At the A:\> prompt, type the following with a return after each line. The
spaces are important.

c:
cd windows
attrib -s -h system.dat
edit system.dat

Use Search | Find to find 'ProductKey'
The key used to install Win Me should be to the immediate right of the string
ProductKey and of the form XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Failing that if yours was a Microsoft rather than an OEM CD and you regsitered
with Microsoft when you first installed Win Me the following may be of help.
