Attempting to update BIOS from Dell download site. Followed instructions
to save file on Desktop, but when I double click to open and save to
bootable disk, I get following message: "This BIOS cannot be reflashed
because of installed memory manager". What do it all mean, y'all?

It seems to me as by double clicking you are trying to run the bios update
from the desktop rather than copying it to a floppy.

Reread the instructions to make sure that you're actually supposed to do
a BIOS flash from Windows.

If so, reboot to SafeMode, first.

Thanks for the response. The instructions do call for double clicking
the desktop icon to create a bootable floppy. That is when I get the
error message. The floppy is supposed to be a self extracting disk for
rebooting in DOS. I will try in safe mode and keep you posted. Thanks

Ah understood. Seems as if some reason the self-extracting file tried instead
to flash the bios.
