Has anybody tried the free AVAST anti virus scanner? I've been using it for
a while and have had no complaints.
I was using GRISOFT AVG 6 but they had a couple of releases that were
messing up my computer (screen would turn black and I've have to reboot when
the virus scan was running). Before that I was using Trend Micro PC Cillin
2003, but it was playing havoc with my system as well. I tested a beta
version of Trend Anti Virus just about a month ago. They've now come up
with a final release and have given me a free licence for a year, for
testing it. Except the beta version of it kept cutting of my internet
access, so maybe I should just leave well enough alone. Any thoughts about
these are welcome!!
thanks

There was a bit of an issue recently when Avast (and also AVG) was not
detecting newer variants of the Agobot/Gaobot worm, even though the
other major antivirus companies (Norton, McAfee, Kasperesky, eTrust)
had updates in place for it several days earlier.

I have had great success with trend micro and use it all
the time, most recently a couple of days ago. I wonder
what caused your problem?

What release/version of Trend Micro are you using?
Pc cillin 2002? 2003? Their latest Trend Anti Virus product? I used 2002
for quite a while but 2003 was terrible. And the beta one for this latest
product too...
