Anytime I try to start MSPaint on my HP Pavilion running
WINDOWS ME, I get the message "Mspaint has caused an error
in MFC42.DLL. Mspaint will now close. If you continue to
experience problems, try restarting your computer." I
have tried restarting the computer. I have tried to do an
application recovery. I have not done a full system
reload/recovery because I don't want to have to reload the
other programs that I'm running. Does anyone have any
suggestions on how I can fix the problem with MSPaint?

Thank you.

See MS KB215632 - "Invalid Page Fault Starting WordPad or Paint"
(http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=218632) which explains that the problem you
are having with MS Paint is probably a result of a damaged registry entry.
The KB tells you what to do to, hopefully, resolve the problem.
