Windows ME Upgrade

Have purchased a software upgrade CD set: x09-78507 to
upgrade from Windows ME to Windows XP Home. The set up
will not proceed beyond the window indicating it is
gathering data. No error messages. The system becomes
unresponsive. Have to power down to get back control.
Any ideas?

The best idea I have is to post details of your problem including full details
of your hardware in a newsgroup supporting XP rather than Win Me, for example
microsoft.public.windowsxp.newusers or
microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment.
