The ME PC is a client in an SBS 4.5 domain with a mix of
other Win 98 2nd Ed. and Win 2000. There are no other ME
pcs. When I bootup the ME machine most of the time it
wants to logon using Windows Logon, which is not secure.
In networking properites 'client for microsoft networks'
is selected. There is a password associated with this.
There is no password for 'Windows logon'. The client has
been redone several times using the SBS wizard with no
luck. All other pcs in the domain work fine. The only
time I get the 'client for microsoft networks' logon is
when the pc locks up and I do a re-boot, hard or soft.

Any suggestions?

Or when you logoff and logon again?
