I am trying to setup my LaserJet 5000n under Windows ME. I
am connected to the internet via a Router and Cable Modem.
I turned off all firewall protection for the install. When
I select the "Add Printer" option it cannot locate the
driver (already downloaded) or the printer. I ended up
manually installing the hp LaserJet 5000 PCL 5e driver
package ("lj523")using the "Run" command. I can see the
driver now in the "Properties" but it is in offline mode
since it still cannot locate the printer itself. When I
click on My Network, I can see my computer but there is no
printer listed. I can however type in the IP address for
the printer in the Internet Explorer Window and I can see
the admin/control panel.

I am not sure if the problem lies in how I add the printer
or a Windows problem. Help!!!

Windows 98/Me do not support printing directly to a TCP/IP printer. Check
your HP CD for their TCP/IP Network Printing Wizard software and use it.
