Has your AV application detected the W32/Msearch.A malware and removed this
file? If so it would appear that it might not have removed the entry used to
launch this file each time you boot your PC.

Using MSConfig (Start, Run enter MSConfig in the box and click OK), open the
Startup tab and look for and uncheck if found any entry that refers to
c:\WINDOWS\Msearch.exe. Close MSConfig and reboot.

Kinda sounds like spyware to me, do you have Ad-aware and/or Spybot!? It was probaly removed by it... go to msconfig as Mike mentioned.
