Oh, I probably should add that even before all those
problems, i had trouble deleting a lage game It woulnt
leave the recycle bin, telling me that it couldnt find a
file, and where it's filename would be, it shows a random
string of symbols.

First thing is to try running scandisk in Safe Mode.(F8 or Ctrl keys at
power-up).

Failing that, run scandisk in Real Mode DOS. (Boot using WinMe Startup
[floppy] Disk. Select option 4) Minimal and at the A:\> prompt, type:
scandisk c:
Then press return. (Note the space between the k and the c and note the
colon : after the c)

See if that improves things.
