Some links have begun appearing at
the "http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp"
site when using my computer. Words
like "virus", "security", or portions of other words like
repre"sents" are highlighted. When clicked on they link to
other sites that sell things I'm not interested in, like:
virushunter or ringtones. I've deleted all cookies and run
my aol spyware protection software but they're still
there. Also, whenever I go to windowsupdate there is
always at least one pop-up that appears, even though I
have pop-ups disabled w/AOL pop-up blocker. Can anyone
help?

You may have a virus/spyware hijack

download the Stinger from here and run it to make sure that A-V-disabling
viruses are not present on your PC
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe

- update your virus scanner and run a full system scan of all files.

Reboot to Safe Mode and run CWShredder - to remove variants of the
CoolWebSearch hijacker.

Use CWShredder, the removal tool:

http://www.merijn.org/files/CWShredder.exe

download AdAware from www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to
remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.
