Hi, I've been running a pretty mediocre WinMe on a 1.7G P4 with an Intel
D845GEBV2 board using the integrated graphics. Norton Internet Security
2002 was a bear, I had to reinstall. When I got the 2004 upgrade to Norton,
all seemed to go well, there was a critical upgrade to WinMe about the same
time.

That was a couple months ago, I got it all updated. Since then I've been
getting blue screens saying:

Exception 0E at 0028:Ff0D3907 in Vxd --- caled from 0028:C007E024 VxD ---

Error: 0E:0028:C007E024

Yes, VxD ---, no less.

So I press a key and usually get;

Error: 0E:0028:C002EFC4

or

Error: 0E:0028:C0030D04

Then I have to Ctl/Alt/Del to get it going, go to safe mode to run scandisk
because it takes forever in normal mode.

It doesn't happen every day, maybe every five/six hours of use on the
average, always with a dial up connect to my ISP.

I saw some messages about 0E:0028 being due to obselete video drivers, so I
got the latest from the Intel web site, and the latest bios flash too.
Didn't help.

I saw messages about scumware, and got AdAware and SpyBot, did not fix it.

I saw messages about reducing acceleration on video and using less colors.
That helped, but didn't entirely resolve matter, only made it less frequent.

Those were by Frank Saunders.

I saw Joan's "try this" messages referring to several Windows help sites,
but didn't find anything that seemed relevant.

Symantec's site said I was up to date, no issues.

I noticed the Windows Update site listed a DirectX 9.0b, while I had been
running 8.1, so I went for it. it took a few minutes to install, and a few
more on reboot, Spybot noticed several registry changes, I allowed all.

So I'm typing this at you, wondering where do I go from here if X9.0b
doesn't resolve the matter. Any ideas?
