If an email comes in to my Outlook Express inbox, my
computer gets turned on. The only way I can prevent this
is to unplug the cpu! Can anyone help?

For Outlook Express to download a message your PC has to be switched on, the
operating system loaded and running, outlook express running and the system
connected to the net. An e-mail is incapable of doing any of those things.

What might be happening is that if you connect to the net using a network card
to say a cable connection that you have WakeOnLan enabled which would mean
that activity on the network could wake up the operating system is hibernating
but even then Outlook Express would have to be open when the system went into
hibernation and also be set to automatically scan for incoming mail every ???
minutes.

If this is the case, either power down your PC rather than letting it
hibernate or when you next boot your system, go into the bios and disable Wake
On Lan.
