Have you followed the documentation that came with the modem? Did you install
its drivers before connecting the modem?

Broadband 'eh?

Generally, broadband requires a special modem, usually
provided by your ISP. This modem is then connected to a
router if you wish to hook up multiple systems in your
home. If this is indeed the case you need to contact your
ISP to resolve this issue. Again, Broadband means a
better than dialup connection, that is more than a 56k
connection, so requires a special modem. This modem then
either connects to a NIC card in your system or a router
then a NIC card in your systemS.
