View Full Version : Can't connect to server

Bill
June 8th 04, 10:58 PM
I am trying to access my ISP with a second PC that is
running ME. I am using a dial=up connection. I have
followed the ISP instruction to configure the dial-up as
well as setting up the account in Outlook.

The dial-up will connect to the ISP. However, if I try to
access a web page with Internet Explore or Open the e-mail
account in Outlook I get an error, "Can't find server".

I spent an hour (not on hold) with tech support from the
ISP and they said it must be a windows problem.

Does anyone know what might be wrong?

I'm assuming here that you are running two PC's as a local network.
How have you set the network up?
Have you installed ICS properly?
What OS is the host PC?

No I am just trying to dial into the ISP using a seperate
PC and while switching the phone line. What I am really
tring to do is setup the second PC so that I can relocate
it to dailing from a different location.

I call in and get the ISP to verify and acceptthe user and
password but then when I go to activate Outlook or
Internet Explore I get "can't find server error.

try this....
you may have spyware
Such errors are often caused by spyware - download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

***also run the LSPFix from here***
