Whenever I attempt to run Windows Update,I recive an error
message that the program has caused an error
in "Kernall32.dll". Is this my problem, or is something
wrong at Microsoft?

Seth,
Do you mean Kernal32.dll or Kernel32.dll. The first is a sign of a
viral infection, the second *could* be an number of things, but most
likely spyware.
For Kernal32.dll, go here for an online virus scan :
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm
Then here :
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
For Kernel32.dll, go here and follow the steps laid out :
http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
Once you determine that the system is clear of viruses , and
spy|ad|malware, try Windows Update again.
Please post back with the results.
