Hi - I just installed a new hard drive & all the software,
etc. and when I turn the machine on, I get a popup that
says "Enter Network Password" How do I get rid of this -
I'm not on a network.

Thanks very much.

Cathy,

See MS KB 152104 - "How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows
Me Logon Prompt at Startup" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=152104).

Basically you need to change to using Windows Logon in Control Panel |
Network. Then when you next log on don't enter a password (leave blank) and
click OK. If you've already allocated a password logon and then delete or
better rename the password file in the Windows folder - this is a file whose
name is your logon name with a pwl extension.

Don't click Cancel or Escape as this will mean that you don't log on and are
instead what is called the Default user which means you won't be able to save
passwords and have access to certain features.

Thanks very much, it worked! The popup window went away,
but after I rebooted the computer, I got an error message
saying something about Ndetect caused an error & a kernel
and I had to reboot the machine - it didn't happen again,
maybe it was a one time thing. I'll search for some info
on that.

Thanks again for your help.

That error was from your ICQ messenger program. If it persists you may want
to uninstall and reinstall ICQ, or upgrade to the latest version if you
haven't already.

How have you installed / set up a new font?
The font was DL'ed and unzipped then copied over to c:\windows\fonts
But it does not show up in the list after a reboot.
Should the properties be set to system, read only, hidden?
Thanks for your time.
