View Full Version : Error Messages All Over the Place

Since installing spyware I have had so many problems. I
have tried to remove the "NoTrace" program but it won't
uninstall.
Most of the time, I can't access my computer (error says
Explorer has caused an error in PDF2385.dll).
This morning I could get into My Computer but I was
getting "The Shell32.dll file cannot start. Check file to
determine the problem" when I tried to play Free Cell
offline. Same problem with the RUN..msconfig...

If there is any suggestions out there about what I should
do, short of tossing the computer out the window, I would
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Why did you install spyware? Were you looking for problems or did you mean to
type something entirely different since surely no-one willingly installs
spyware on their PC.

This is almost certainly the result of your hosting unwanted malware on your
PC. Possibly SafeGuardProtect (see
http://www.pestpatrol.com/PestInfo/s/safeguardprotect.asp).

Graham Womark, recently posted in the Win Me General NGs how he resolved his
problem as follows:
"Do all this in Safe Mode
Make a Restore Point - just in case it gets worse.
Using Regedit, search for 'Safeguard'. Make a note of the dll name.
Run BHODemon (http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm).
Look for the same dll name The 'Details' key should give you more
information about when the entries were loaded. Disable the registry entry.
Search your hard drive for the dll file (should be in Windows\System). Rename
it and a similar named lib file (possibly pdf.dll) - change the extensions.
Reboot, cross your fingers and try 'My Computer' "

Judging from the BS that's posted on their site, I wouldn't touch NoTrace
with the proverbial bargepole - and I seem to recall getting spammed with
invites to partake of their 'special limited offer' some months ago

Get a reputable spyware killer, as Mike has suggested - both Ad-Aware and
Spybot S&D are free - and the general wisdom at present is that if you have
to pay for it, you're probably being ripped off!

download AdAware from
www.lavasoftusa.com, install, update, and run it to remove spyware, adware,
and other such nasties from your system.

If that doesn't help, then try Spybot S&D

I won't speak too loudly but everything is working fine
right now....Did someone make a visit and fix everything
for me? I did add the BHO program from one of the sites
suggested and I think at least one of the things they
found has one of the DLL file errors I was getting,
listed. NoTrace is still listed in the Add/Remove Programs
because it can't find the installation program or so it
says and I can't erase it. But thanks for your help guys.
